Principal

 

BMS Institute of Technology is headed by a dynamic Principal Dr S.Venkateswaran, popularly known as Dr. S.V.

Dr.S.V. obtained his Masters and Doctoral degrees from IISc, Bangalore and followed it with another Doctoral degree from the Technical University, Vienna, Austria. (TU-Wien)

Dr. S.V. has got about 30 years of Teaching, R&D and Industrial experience. He has served in various capacities both in the industrial, as well as in the academic sectors, in India and Abroad. During his tenure abroad, he successfully completed several International Projects (for companies like Teledyne USA and ESK Germany, etc.,). He was also Consultant for UNIDO for CAD/ CAM and surface engineering.

Dr.S.V. has over 62 publications to his credit and guided nine students for their PG./Doctorate degrees at the TU-Vienna and two PG students at BMSCE, Bangalore, in addition to several graduate students at BMSIT, Bangalore.

Currently he is guiding 5 Ph.D and 1 MSc, Engineering for their Research degrees.

 

Achievements:-

  • Chief Superintendent of all theory and practical examinations of VTU conducted in the Institute.
  • External/internal examiner and paper setter for PhD, ME and graduate students of VTU and Bangalore Universities.
  • Was Chaiman/Member BOE VTU and Member, PhD committee,VTU.

 

CONSULTANCY/CHAIRMANSHIPS/MEMBERSHIP:

       Dr S.V was consultant to UNIDO on CAD/CAM applications to new material technology

developments (1988-90) and Surface Engineering (1991-92).

  • Was consultant to M/S Barnwood Solutions, UK., on computer software and database management.
  • Was the Co-Chairman of a session, in the ‘IV-Int.Symp. on the Physical Metallurgy of Cast Iron’, Japan,1989.
  • Was on the board of International Liasions Committee, ICAMPS-92, Bombay, Feb.1992.

AWARDS AND DISTINCTIONS:-

  • Represented Zircast in the Hannover world trade fair,2000.
  • Represented Austria and Germany in the COST-504 ‘Advanced Research on New Materials Technology’ group -1988-91
  • Lectured in several countries including Europe and Japan.
  • Secured the ‘University second rank’ in the Mechanical Engineering stream of the Bangalore university (1978).
  • Won the ‘Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology’ award for the ‘BEST B.E. project work’ in the mechanical engineering branch (1978)
